Claude is Anthropic’s AI assistant, built with a strong emphasis on being helpful, harmless, and honest. It excels at long-form reasoning, nuanced writing, and following complex multi-step instructions — but like any tool, it rewards users who understand how it thinks.
1. Lean Into Long Contexts
Claude supports very large context windows, meaning you can paste in entire documents, codebases, or lengthy conversations and ask questions about them. Take advantage of this — don’t summarize your source material before pasting it in. Let Claude read the original.

Claude is particularly strong at working through problems step by step. When you need accuracy on complex topics — analysis, math, logic, legal reasoning — ask it to show its work rather than jump straight to a conclusion.

Strong: "Walk me through whether this contract clause would be enforceable,
step by step, considering jurisdiction, intent, and standard legal precedent."3. Be Direct About Format
Claude defaults to well-structured responses but will follow explicit format instructions closely. If you want bullet points, a table, plain prose, or a specific JSON shape — just say so. The more explicit you are, the less post-processing you’ll need to do.

No prose, no markdown, just raw JSON."4. Give Feedback Mid-Conversation
Claude maintains context well across a conversation, so corrections carry weight. If a response misses the mark, tell it specifically what was off rather than starting a new prompt from scratch. Small adjustments in-thread often produce better results than rewriting the whole prompt.

Claude shines at unblocking creative or analytical work. Use it to generate a rough draft, outline an argument, or brainstorm options — then refine from there. Treating it as a thinking partner rather than a final-answer machine gets you much further.
